Who We Are

We are a Bellevue School District wide PTA.  We support and advocate for students across all Bellevue schools.

The Bellevue Special Needs PTA Board is committed to helping every child with special needs in Bellevue schools succeed and reach their full potential.

We know that parent involvement directly affects student success and is of even greater importance for parents of children with special needs.  

We foster parent involvement by providing opportunities for parents to get to know each other, communicate information, provide a forum for exchanging ideas and suggestions and provide education and advocacy. 

The process began in November 2011 with a meeting of parents and educators who agreed that the formation of a formal organization should be pursued.  A Steering Committee was then formed and work began to determine the best model for such an organization.  The Steering Committee members did the work of researching the pros and cons of creating a Special Needs Parent Committee and a Special Needs PTA.  

Based on that work it was determined that the best model for advocating for our children was through a PTA supported by the Bellevue PTSA Council and the Regional and State PTA.

The Charter Meeting took place on May 21st, 2012 where those present voted to organize.  Memberships were then accepted and election of officers took place.

We partner with other Bellevue PTA's and Community Based Organizations to raise awareness and support families and children with special needs.
